From a possible performance by Franco-Malian R&B star Aya Nakamura, the most listened to French-speaking singer in the world, to a tribute to Notre-Dame cathedral, the specifics of the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics ceremony have been mostly kept under wraps. Instead of using the athletics stadium for the opening parade, per usual, organisers have moved the ceremony into the heart of the capital, on the River Seine, with the motto “Games Wide Open”.
